SAGER: Ties of Tenggara is a group
exhibition of the alumni of an art group exchange programme involving three
countries, namely, Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines. This exhibition
indeed reveals that the programme, designed to allow young artists within this
region to interact and establish networking, has given significant impacts to
the artists involved. A total of 19 artists from Kuala Lumpur, Jogjakarta and
Manila now come together again to show their artworks under the banner of
SAGER. Apart from this exhibition, the artists also hold a series of art talks
in several art education institutions and participate in a few public and
community-based art projects with local artists. Additionally, they also engage
in discussions on how to obtain the best infrastructure and support that can
ensure that the programme will remain sustainable for the benefits of future
young generation artists.
